Mr. Kreider was born in Sandhill, PA on March 10, 1920. His father was Harvey Kreider and mother Bessy May Steckbeck. Mr. Kreider was married to Lorene Lindsey until she died in 1958 and remarried to Betty Jane Rock for 33 years until Betty passed away January 8, 1996. Subsequently, he met Lula “Lou” Gallagher and the two of them took up residence at High Point of Ft. Pierce and she was his companion for 15 years. He passed away on July 26 in peace and love at home with Lou and her daughter Teresa by his side.

Mr. Kreider retired from Bethlehem Steel Corp. from a management position after 42 years of service and within this time period enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a bit less than two years in the liberation of the Philippines as a member of the 11th Airborne Division 188th Parachute Infantry Regiment as one of the youngest First Sergeants in military history where he earned and was awarded the six stripes and a diamond of a Regimental First Sergeant of which he was so proud to have achieved that he had this unit insignia as well as his rank tattooed on his right upper arm and after having done this said “Proudly I’m taking this with me when I go”. And so he did.

Russ was one of a kind. He will be missed by family and friends.

A memorial service will take place in the fall at the High Point Condo Section III.

Memorial contributions may be made to Treasure Coast Hospice.

Russ's goodness brought up the best in peoples life he touched. There are a few Kings in this world, and Russ was a King. He lived a large life, then he was larger than life. He loved a good game and in the game of life he was an Ace.
